The Seymour Duncan Antiquity II Surf Set is a complete set of hand-aged pickups for Strat. This set includes the Neck, RWRP Middle and Custom Bridge pickups. Bright, punchy, and aged to perfection, the Antiquity II Surfer for Strat Set captures all the classic singe coil tones from the 60’s.
The Antiquity II Surf neck pickup provides that smooth and chimey bounciness that only a Stratocaster can produce. Seymour Duncan's specially calibrated Alnico 5 rod magnets and custom scatter wound coil give the treble attack a subtle sweetness without losing any of the harmonic sparkle.
The Antiquity II Surf RWRP middle pickup will give you the same glassy tone of the standard wound Surf pickup when used on its own, but when put in combination with either the bridge or neck pickups, it will deliver that beautiful, bright in-between sound that Stratocasters are so famous for. The Surf RWRP is made with the same winding spec and aged Alnico 5 rod magnets as the neck model, but is reverse-wound/reverse-polarity to allow for hum-cancelling when used in combination with the neck or bridge.
The Antiquity II Surf custom bridge pickup is wound to have extra midrange and output for a more versatility. Seymour Duncan winds these 50% hotter for more mids, and then slightly softens the treble attack by degaussing the Alnico 5 rod magnets. It cuts through the mix much more easily than a traditional Strat bridge pickup, while still retaining that classic Stratocaster tonal character. Solos will jump out more musically, and chords will ring with the perfect amount of midrange sparkle.
All Antiquity II Surf pickups are hand built in the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop, and are aged both cosmetically and magnetically to simulate the wear and tear that a pickup goes through after decades of playing. Each pickup comes with a specially aged cover, and the custom aged Alnico 5 rod magnets are specifically calibrated to deliver just the right combination of chime and sweetness. The decreased magnetism means less string pull, and that means more sustain.
