The Schatten RB-2A Rockabilly upright bass pickup system includes two sensors, one for the bridge and another for the fingerboard, each with its own volume control. The preamp assembly is mounted behind the tailpiece. The entire system is prewired and requires no soldering or drilling.
The main RB sensor element is designed to fit in the wing slot of a bass bridge. Normal placement of the sensor is in the bass side slot. The sensor has a nominal thickness of 0.25" (6.35mm) and requires a slot opening of approximately 0.225" (5.7). The fit of the sensor in the slot is meant to be snug as this is a pressure-sensitive pickup. The sensor will compress slightly as it is pushed into the wing slot. Bridge not included.
The second sensor element attaches to the underside of the fingerboard for that Rock-A-Billy string slap. Both sensors have a volume control so that you can individually adjust the effect of each pickup.
The RB-2A includes a high quality onboard preamp with dual volume controls for volume and balance adjustments. The preamp automatically turns on when a cable is plugged into the jack, and turns off when the cable is removed to conserve battery power. The preamp assembly mounts to the back side of the tailpiece with the included hook-and-loop attachment pads.
