Note: This is the very latest model of the HFN pickup that has the new ABS base. This replaces the original model that had a rosewood base. The new ABS base transfers more resonance from the soundboard to the pickup sensor, which provides increased clarity and detail, along with slightly higher output.
The Schatten HFN-C Passive Under-bridge Guitar Pickup is a high quality piezo transducer with a prewired endpin jack designed for internal installation on any nylon string guitar. This HFN pickup is specifically designed to span the center brace found on nylon string guitars.

The HFN-C models give you a sound that is much more realistic and acoustic than anything that you have ever experienced before. More realism in attack, more realism in overall response, these pickups actually allow your instrument to sound just as good plugged in as it does unplugged. The only thing missing from the HFN-C in a classical is the 'quack' that everyone has come to expect and accept in classical acoustic pickups. There is nothing artificial about the sound of the HFN-C's as the accurately reproduce the actual acoustic sound of the instrument.
The HFN series of pickups was designed to use a preamp; either built into your instrument or an external preamp. If you already have a preamp built into your instrument or if you have an outboard preamp, the HFN Passive model will work with virtually all of those units.
If you do not have a preamp in your instrument and wish to have everything onboard in one neat and tidy package, then you should be purchasing the HFN Active or HFN Artist model instead of this one. Should you not wish to have an onboard preamp and battery, then the Schatten Mini-Pre preamp will match up perfectly with the HFN passive pickup.
