The Highlander IP-2 Split Bridge Guitar Pickup system has two pickup sensors, designed specifically for guitars with split-saddle bridges (4 strings on one saddle, 2 on the other). This model also includes an accessory port on the preamp to use the optional IP-2 mic or another pickup.
The Highlander IP-2 is for musicians who wish to combine the popular IP-1 pickup with a separately available microphone or sound hole pickup. This model has a secondary input that can be used for the IP-2 Microphone (available separately) or a second magnetic or piezo pickup. The signal from the mic/pickup is routed to the Ring terminal on the output jack, for external mixing using a stereo guitar cable (not included).
The IP-2 is designed primarily for use in steel string or nylon string acoustic guitars and basses, but has founds its way into everything from resonator guitars to kotos. The pickup is a unique under-the-saddle coaxial transducer. It is very flexible and is ideal for any string spacing. It can be shortened using a sharp pair of wire cutters.
The pickup is connected to a true Class A audiophile-quality preamplifier that is housed in a metal tube and mounted on the endpin jack. This preamp's level of ultra-low noise and distortion has to "not" be heard to be believed.
Note! The installation of this pickup requires tapping the threads into the endpin hole, and routing the slot for the pickup in the bottom of the saddle slot. We have these tools available if you need them. We recommend professional installation.
