The VR is a full range pickup and forms the backbone of our viola pickup systems. Each pickup is hand built and tested in the Schatten workshop to ensure good sound. As well, each pickup is warranted for a period of two years from date of purchase.

The response is sweet from the bottom end right up to the top. We use a high quality maple bridge of medium density that is ready for fitting and curvature. Since our single piezo sensing unit is built right into the bridge, it can not fall out or get out of position or adjustment. There is no acoustic degradation or loss of normal acoustic tone or volume.

The pickup has excellent volume, great bottom and mids....and overall, a sweet, even response

Model VR

This model includes the VR replacement bridge with embedded pickup, non-terminated, for use with an existing jack or onboard preamp.

Each pickup is hand built and tested in the Schatten workshop to ensure good sound. As well, each pickup is warranted for a period of two years from date of purchase.

Passive Design

Schatten has designed their V-02 series pickups to operate properly and sound terrific without the use of a preamp if you are running into any 'normal' amp (guitar amp, bass amp, etc.

Players who must plug directly into a mixing board will most likely need to preamp their signal in order to match up with what most mixers require in terms of impedance and signal strength. If this is the case, you can use the Schatten Preamp/DI unit as an outboard preamp/eq for this pickup.
